The Rhode Island-Israel Collaborative (RIIC) is happy to host an evening event at Social Enterprise Greenhouse RI
Tuesday, March 20th at 6 to 8 pm at 10 Davol Square in Providence, RI
The CEO and three alumni of PresenTense will discuss their respective ethnic and religious communities, introduce their startups, discuss the social problems that they seek to fix and focus on how they have experienced Arab-Israeli coexistence within the startup world.
Israel is known as the Startup Nation for its disproportionately high number of new inventions, from the cherry tomato to Waze. Israeli innovation is not only useful for the development of new technologies, but also serves as a channel for fostering coexistence between different ethnic communities within the small Middle Eastern country.
Since 2007, PresenTense has been asking the question: what can we do to make entrepreneurship more accessible and how can we channel entrepreneurship to focus on improving society?
PresenTense opened the first co-working hub in Israel, launched the first social venture accelerator, the first accelerator for Arab entrepreneurs in Israel, for Haredi (ultra-Orthodox) women and the first in the world to focus on innovative solutions for people with disabilities.
The impact has been the launch of over 350 businesses, tech startups and social ventures. These entities are growing local economies through job growth, enriching community life through volunteer engagement and solving core society problems, as our ventures impact tens of thousands of lives.
So come and meet their CEO and 3 of their graduates to learn how to collaborate and most important, tap on their knowledge in order to help us in Rhode Island to empower disadvantaged members and groups of our community.
The event will be opened by Kelly Ramirez, the Executive Director of Social Enterprise Greenhouse House Hub and Avi Nevel, President and CEO of the Rhode Island-Israel Collaborative (RIIC) and moderated by Matan Zamir, Deputy Consul General of the Consulate General of Israel to New England.
