RIHub has a unique relationship with Israeli startups. Global accelerators IBM Alpha Zone Israel, Hadassah Hospital Tech Accelerator Hadasit, and Ben Gurion University’s Oazis have come to be essential partners for the Bridge to Israel program for RIHub. Together with the Rhode Island -Israel Collaborative ( RIIC), RIHub makes essential connections to Israeli founders. “We at the Rhode Island Israel Collaborative (RIIC) are very excited to partner with the RIHub to help bring high tech Israeli Startups to Rhode Island. Rhode Island is an excellent landing place for Israeli companies who would like to expand their U.S. operation into the U.S. market,” Said Avi Nevel, President and CEO, RIIC. Israeli startup Binsight founded by Gilad Mor-Hayim and Or Bar-Tal, has a mission to tackle the untouched area of household consumption and massive food waste. They have developed a unique technology that combines high-end computer vision, deep learning, and core behavioral tools to solve this problem. They will help consumers save significant money and directly reduce food waste. A recent study from the US Dept of Agriculture showed that 61% of all wasted food, is happening in our homes. Americans ends up throwing out $53.81 worth of spoiled food a week from their fridge, amounting to $2,798 every year per household. “We aim to make a disruption in this neglected area, we directly reduce the growing problem of food waste” said Binsight’s CEO Gilad Mor-Hayim, “We are excited to open Binsight’s US operations in Rhode Island, and because we produce unique access to household consumption data, we are looking for key growth partners such as grocery retailers and CPGs in the US.” The Bridge to Israel Program was founded as part of former Governor Raimondo’s Innovation Campus initiative.
