The Rhode Island-Israel Collaborative (RIIC) is pleased to offer quarterly program Quarterly Coffee Rush Hour, a Virtual Rhode Island Business Affair and Summary of Current Israel Innovation and Trends.
Since the inception of the Rhode Island-Israel Collaborative (RIIC) there has been significant impact and flurry of activities between Rhode Island and Israel. Also, there is significant interest in Rhode Island in learning more about the new economics and innovation coming from Israel.
Guest moderator was RIIC Board Member, Dr. Jacqueline Saslawski, Director of International Business, Bryant University. Jacqueline Saslawski, JD, MPIA, is the Director of the International Business (IB) Program and a Lecturer of Management at Bryant University. This role encompasses both teaching and administrative responsibilities, shaping the academic strategy of the IB Program. She is also the faculty advisor for the undergraduate student organization International Business Association (IBA). To read more
Dr. Nir Tsuk is a seasoned practitioner, academic and facilitator with over 25 years of international experience in the fields of social capital, entrepreneurship, impact and culture of innovation. Serving as NYU’s Global Distinguished Scholar (as well as a Visiting Professor of Entrepreneurship at Osaka University, Japan). Nir has recently launched for New York University, the Institute for Impact and Intrapreneurship, connecting New York and Tel Aviv – and bringing the language of innovations to those who need it most.
Honorary guest speaker, Anat Katz Economic Minister to North America, Government of Israel
Anat Katz serves as Minister for Economic and Trade Affairs in Israel’s Consulate General in New York. In this capacity Anat is responsible for promoting Israel-U.S. economic and trade ties, with a strong focus on the promotion of Israeli exports, U.S. investments in Israel and bilateral research and development collaborations. Anat held various positions in the Israeli public sector since 2002 when she first joined the Ministry of Economy and Industry. Anat served as Israel’s Economic and Trade attaché in Singapore, Director for North and Latin America in the Ministry of Economy, and as Minister for Economic and Trade Affairs at the Embassy of Israel in Washington DC. More recently Anat headed the International Affairs Division of the Israeli parliament, the Knesset, and later returned to the Ministry of Economy and Industry to establish and head the Ministry’s Export Control Agency. Anat holds an MBA and a Bachelor degree in laws (Honors Program) from the Hebrew University in Jerusalem. Anat is a certified lawyer in Israel. She is married to Tal and is a mother of two boys.
Guest Speaker, Christian Cowan Chief Operating Officer, University of Rhode Island Research Foundation Executive Director, 401 Tech Bridge
Christian Cowan is a senior executive with more than 20 years of experience in technical manufacturing operations and marketing in the IT networking, energy and textile industries. He brings both domestic and overseas hands-on manufacturing experience to the University of Rhode Island Research Foundation (URIRF), Polaris MEP’s parent organization. He most recently served as the Center Director of Polaris MEP. Christian earned his BSEE degree from Villanova University and his MBA from the University of Rhode Island.
